How are you? Today let's look at how to describe what combinations of materials make up some common engineering structures, equipment, containers, and components.
Look at the picture above of a bridge. What materials make it up? We can see iron and concrete as the main materials used in the construction. But while there may be some other materials, iron and concrete are the main materials.
You could make a short list of these materials - iron and concrete - then say something like this: This bridge is made up mostly of iron and concrete.
Activity/homework
Look at the pictures below. Which of the following materials are they made of? Make a list in your notebooks of what materials they are made of. Remember that these things are made of more than one material.
